BJP Conducts Review Meeting Post Bankipur By-Election Loss

Patna, August 5 - Following its defeat in the Bankipur assembly by-election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) convened a review meeting on Wednesday to assess its electoral strategy and identify organizational shortcomings. Leaders and workers who were responsible during the by-election provided detailed feedback during this session.

The meeting took place at the state BJP headquarters, chaired by state president Sanjay Sarawagi, with Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary also in attendance. Various ministers, legislators, MPs, and party officials involved in the election were present.

Sources indicate that the discussion focused on the reasons behind the loss in Bankipur, a seat that has been a BJP stronghold for nearly three decades. The meeting aimed to pinpoint deficiencies in campaign strategies, organization, and management, and to devise plans for improvement.

Sarawagi mentioned that the meeting not only reviewed the reasons for the defeat but also strategized for the party's upcoming initiatives. Bihar government minister Ramkripal Yadav stated to reporters that a thorough analysis of the party's loss in the Bankipur by-election would be conducted. He remarked, 'The people of Bankipur have always supported the BJP. We will identify any shortcomings and make necessary corrections.'

Yadav also targeted Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraj Party, claiming he promised visible changes within three months. He asserted that the BJP would demand daily accountability of Kishor's activities. Meanwhile, Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari noted that all political parties learn from their mistakes and recognize their shortcomings.

Tiwari stated, 'The BJP has consistently won in Bankipur. There could be multiple reasons for the loss, but we will analyze all aspects to understand why Bankipur slipped from our grasp and rectify it moving forward.'

It is noteworthy that the by-election for the Bankipur assembly seat in Patna took place on July 30, with results announced on August 3. In this election, Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraj Party defeated BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha by a margin of 19,324 votes.

This marks the first defeat for the BJP in Bankipur in nearly three decades, necessitated by the resignation of BJP president Nitin Naveen.
