BJP's Allegations Against Congress
On Tuesday, the BJP accused the Congress party and its INDIA coalition allies of deliberately obstructing the Monsoon session of Parliament. The party stated that protests have hindered discussions on essential bills, revealing the opposition's inconsistent stance on issues like paper leaks and student demonstrations. During a press conference at the party headquarters, BJP national spokesperson and Lok Sabha MP Sambit Patra claimed that despite the expenditure of crores on each parliamentary session, disruptions have repeatedly occurred during question hour and zero hour, preventing MPs from raising issues pertinent to their constituencies.
Concerns Over Parliamentary Conduct
Patra expressed serious concerns regarding the ongoing Monsoon session of 2026, highlighting how the Congress party, along with some of its allies, is obstructing proceedings. He noted that crores are spent on each session, yet question hour has not taken place since the session began, with disruptions also occurring during zero hour. He remarked that discussions on bills are nearly nonexistent, attributing this to the Congress party's and its INDIA coalition's behavior, which he finds truly surprising. He also suggested that the opposition might continue to disrupt parliamentary work on Tuesday.
Targeting Congress's alleged double standards on paper leak incidents, Patra claimed that in states where Congress is in power, they remain silent on such events, while politicizing similar issues elsewhere. Referring to comments made by Karnataka's Home Minister Priyank Kharge regarding alleged irregularities in police constable recruitment exams, Patra stated, "Priyank Kharge suggested that students should first undertake a hunger strike for 25 days, after which they would face police action, and only then would he consider resigning. Rahul Gandhi has remained silent on this matter."
Ignoring Student Protests
Patra further accused Congress of neglecting students protesting against the alleged paper leak in the 14th JPSC exam in Jharkhand. He claimed that no Congress MP was seen holding placards regarding the JPSC exam issue at Makar Dwaar, labeling this selective outrage as driven solely by political interests.
