Bihar Government Launches 'Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana'

Patna, Aug 29: The government of Bihar has recently approved a significant initiative named 'Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana', aimed at empowering women through financial aid, thereby promoting self-reliance.

This decision was made during a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, where the proposal received unanimous approval.

As part of this scheme, one woman from each household in Bihar will be eligible for an initial financial grant of Rs 10,000 to kickstart employment in a field of her choice.

The application process for interested women will commence shortly, with fund transfers directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts expected to begin in September.

After six months of initiating their employment activities, an evaluation will take place, and based on their progress, beneficiaries could receive further financial support of up to Rs 2 lakh.

To bolster women entrepreneurs, the government plans to establish haat bazaars in villages, towns, and cities for selling their products.

Officials anticipate that this initiative will not only create extensive employment opportunities for women but also boost family incomes, enhance living standards, and reduce the need for migration from Bihar in search of jobs.

Following the announcement, Janata Dal (United) MLC Neeraj Kumar commended Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his ongoing commitment to women's empowerment in the state.

Neeraj Kumar remarked, "Since November 24, 2005, CM Nitish Kumar has implemented numerous initiatives for women's welfare and self-sufficiency. Our daughters and sisters are now serving in the Police Department. He has supported Jeevika sisters, introduced the domicile policy, and allocated 35 percent reservation for women in Bihar. Now, he has announced financial aid for one woman per family to foster self-reliance."

He further emphasized that while some leaders prioritize their families, CM Nitish is dedicated to the daughters and sisters of Bihar.

"This marks a fundamental transformation that has occurred since Nitish Kumar assumed leadership of the state," Neeraj Kumar concluded.
