Nitish Kumar Steps Down as Chief Minister of Bihar


Patna: On Tuesday, Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced his resignation, which he submitted to Governor Syed Ata Hasnain.


Kumar, who holds the record as Bihar's longest-serving chief minister, shared this news on X following a meeting with the governor at Lok Bhavan.


Joined by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, JD(U) national working president Sanjay Jha, and state minister Vijay Choudhary, Kumar officially handed over his resignation.


"I have accomplished significant work for the people of Bihar. Recently, I made the decision to step down from the chief minister's role, and after today's cabinet meeting, I met with the governor to submit my resignation," Kumar stated.


At 75 years old, Kumar was elected as a Rajya Sabha MP just last week.


"The new government will manage the affairs of Bihar, and I will extend my full support and guidance to them," he added in his social media update.
