Bihar's Electoral Roll Revision: What You Need to Know About Voter Enumeration
Completion of Bihar's Special Intensive Revision
New Delhi: The Election Commission (EC) announced on Sunday that the first phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar's electoral roll has wrapped up, with enumeration forms collected from 7.24 crore voters, representing 91.69 percent of the state's electorate.
The commission reported that 36 lakh individuals were either found to have moved permanently from their registered addresses or could not be located. Additionally, it was noted that seven lakh voters had registered in multiple locations.
This initial phase, which involved the distribution and collection of enumeration forms, concluded on July 25.
According to the EC, booth-level officers were unable to locate these voters or retrieve their forms because they may have registered in other states or Union territories, were untraceable, or failed to submit their forms by the deadline.
Some individuals may have chosen not to register for various reasons.
The commission indicated that a detailed review of these forms will be conducted by August 1 to ascertain the status of these voters.
"Nonetheless, legitimate voters can still be added to the electoral rolls during the Claims and Objection period from August 1 to September 1. Voters found registered in multiple locations will have their names retained at only one address," the EC stated.
