Bihar Women to Receive Monthly Allowance if Mahagathbandhan Wins Elections
In a significant announcement, Alka Lamba of the All India Mahila Congress pledged that women in Bihar would receive a monthly allowance of ₹2,500 if the Mahagathbandhan coalition wins the upcoming assembly elections. This initiative, named 'Maa Bahin Maan', aims to support marginalized women and is part of a broader commitment to their economic empowerment. Lamba criticized the current NDA government for neglecting women's welfare, contrasting it with the Congress's dedication to fulfilling promises made to the electorate. Alka Lamba Announces Financial Support for Women in Bihar
The leader of the All India Mahila Congress, Alka Lamba, announced on Wednesday that if the Mahagathbandhan secures victory in the upcoming assembly elections, women in Bihar will receive a monthly allowance of ₹2,500. The Congress party is part of this coalition, with the RJD playing a significant role. During a press conference, Lamba expressed her support for the 'Maa Bahin Maan' scheme, which was proposed by her coalition partner Tejashwi Yadav a few months ago.
Present at the event was Rajesh Kumar, the president of Bihar Congress. Lamba expressed her pride and happiness that the state president has made this commitment for women. The initiative, named 'Maa Bahin Maan', promises to provide ₹2,500 to women every month. She criticized both the central and state NDA governments for their lack of concern for the welfare of the people, especially women. In contrast, she emphasized that the Congress and its allies are genuinely concerned about their well-being. If the Mahagathbandhan comes to power in the upcoming elections, women from marginalized communities will receive this monthly support from the state government.
Rajesh Kumar added that they are committed to the economic empowerment of women. He reiterated that upon forming the government in Bihar, they will guarantee ₹2,500 monthly for women under the 'Maa Bahin Maan' scheme. Similar initiatives are already in place in states governed by Congress, with Karnataka being the first to implement such a program, followed by Himachal Pradesh and Jharkhand. He pointed out that during the last elections, the BJP made similar promises to the people of Bihar but failed to deliver once in power. In contrast, Congress stands by its commitments, as evidenced in Karnataka, Himachal, and Jharkhand. They are continuously working towards empowering women.
