Bihar Welcomes Its First BJP Chief Minister: Samrat Choudhary Takes Oath
Historic Moment for Bihar
Patna: On Wednesday, Samrat Choudhary, a prominent leader from the BJP, took the oath of office as the Chief Minister of Bihar, marking a significant milestone as he becomes the first individual from his party to assume this role. The oath was administered by Governor Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain (retd).
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by key figures from the ruling NDA coalition in Bihar, which includes the BJP, JD(U), and three other parties.
Notable attendees included Union Ministers JP Nadda and Chirag Paswan, along with Nitish Kumar and all NDA MLAs.
Nitish Kumar, who has transitioned to a Rajya Sabha MP, stepped down from the Chief Minister position on Tuesday, leading to the dissolution of his cabinet, where Choudhary served as Deputy Chief Minister and managed the vital home portfolio.
Having joined the BJP in 2017, Choudhary was appointed as the legislative party leader on Tuesday, with the presence of senior officials such as BJP chief Nitin Nabin and Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who was designated as the 'central observer' for this leadership change.
