Significant Changes in Bihar's Political Landscape

A notable transformation is underway in Bihar's political scene. Following Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's oath-taking as a member of the Rajya Sabha, the process for forming a new government in the state has gained momentum. In this context, a crucial meeting of BJP and JD(U) legislators has been convened at the Chief Minister's residence today.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan Appointed as Observer

To ensure a smooth transition during this political shift, the central leadership of the BJP has designated Union Minister and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, as the observer for Bihar. His primary responsibility will be to oversee the selection process for the next leader (Chief Minister) during the legislative party meeting.

Statement from Vijay Kumar Chaudhary

Senior minister of the Bihar government, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, has clarified that this time, the BJP's role in selecting the Chief Minister will be pivotal. According to him, the BJP is expected to propose a name for the Chief Minister position, after which a formal election will take place in the NDA legislative party meeting. Following Nitish Kumar's ascension to the Rajya Sabha on April 10, the official process for forming a new government is set to commence soon.

Chaudhary indicated that discussions among all NDA constituent parties are ongoing, although there has been no dialogue regarding cabinet expansion yet.

Speculations on BJP's Chief Minister Candidate

Political circles are abuzz with speculation that the balance of power in Bihar may shift this time. There is a possibility that the Chief Minister could be from the BJP. Names like Samrat Chaudhary and Nityanand Rai are being discussed as potential candidates. It is also suggested that a Deputy Chief Minister may be appointed from the JD(U) quota. Some reports have even mentioned Nitish Kumar's son, Nishant Kumar, although this has not been officially confirmed.

It is anticipated that Nitish Kumar may resign on April 13, with the new government likely to take the oath around April 15, following the end of 'Khar Maas' on April 14.
