Investigation into Teacher Recruitment Exam Paper Leak

Patna, July 28 - The Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police has apprehended a doctor in connection with the leak of question papers for the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-3) scheduled for March 2024. Officials disclosed this information on Tuesday. The suspect has been identified as Dr. Manish Kumar from Jehanabad district.

The EOU arrested him during questioning on Sunday. To date, the EOU has taken 296 individuals into custody as part of the TRE-3 investigation. According to a statement released by the EOU, 'The investigation revealed that Dr. Manish Kumar was linked to Dr. Shiv, who is the son of Sanjeev Kumar Singh, also known as Sanjeev Mukhiya.'

Sanjeev Mukhiya is allegedly the mastermind behind the NEET (UG)-2024 question paper leak, which is currently under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He is also wanted in several other cases. Dr. Manish Kumar was involved in the conspiracy to leak the TRE-3 exam paper and ensure the selection of candidates for a fee.' The statement further indicated that Dr. Manish Kumar was promised ₹50,000 for each candidate.

It is alleged that he transported around 30 candidates from Patna to a hotel in Hazaribagh just two to three days before the exam, scheduled for March 15, 2024, where they were provided with the leaked question papers. The EOU noted that Dr. Manish Kumar completed his MBBS at Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) in Patna in 2021. He also served as a government doctor in Kaimur district but later resigned from his government position.

Currently, he is preparing for admission to a postgraduate medical course. The BPSC is set to conduct the TRE-3 exam for primary and middle school teacher positions offline on March 15, 2024.
