Bihar Government's Bold Move: 17 Senior IPS Officers Transferred Amid Controversies
Significant IPS Transfers in Bihar
Patna: In a significant administrative change, the Bihar government executed a transfer of 17 senior IPS officers on Tuesday, including the Superintendents of Police (SPs) from Bhojpur and Siwan, areas that have recently been at the center of police-related controversies.
As per the announcement from the state Home Department, Pooran Kumar Jha, the SP of Siwan, has been moved to a waiting list for a new assignment. His transfer follows an incident on July 25, where an AK-47 rifle was reportedly involved during a student protest under his supervision.
Additionally, the SP of Bhojpur, where the encounter involving local activist Bharat Tiwari sparked public outrage, has also been reassigned.
In the reshuffle, Hriday Kant has been appointed as the new SP of Nalanda, while Bharat Soni takes over as the SP of Siwan. Awadesh Dikshit has been designated as the SP for Bhojpur district, according to the official circular.
