Bihar Government Launches New Farmer Support Scheme
Bihar's Historic Initiative for Farmers
Patna. The Bihar government has taken a significant step to enhance the financial stability of farmers. During the assembly session on Tuesday, Finance Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav officially announced the Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana as part of the 2026-27 state budget. Under this initiative, in addition to the central government's Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN), the Bihar government will provide an extra ₹3,000 annually to farmers.
This means that approximately 73 lakh farmers in the state will now receive a total of ₹9,000 per year (₹6,000 from the center and ₹3,000 from the state). The funds will be transferred directly to the farmers' bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring that there are no intermediaries and that the benefits reach the intended recipients.
