This program, part of the 'Sabka Samman, Jeevan Aasan' initiative, aims to ease the registration process by eliminating the need for physical office visits. Senior citizens can book online slots, and mobile units will visit their homes for document verification and registration. New Digital Initiative for Senior Citizens in Bihar

The Bihar government has introduced a significant digital initiative aimed at assisting senior citizens. Individuals aged 75 and above can now register land, plots, or flats from the comfort of their homes. Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary inaugurated this new system on Saturday at the registration office in Hajipur, under the department of prohibition, excise, and registration. This initiative is part of the 'Sabka Samman, Jeevan Aasan' program, which falls under the Seven Resolves-3 scheme.

Convenience for the Elderly

This thoughtful initiative eliminates the need for elderly individuals to visit registration offices, stand in long queues, or deal with travel hassles. They can now complete the registration process at home. To utilize this service, senior citizens must first book an online slot through the official department website. Once a slot is secured, a mobile registration unit will visit the applicant's home on the scheduled date and time to verify documents, conduct biometric verification, and complete the registration process.

Mobile Registration Units Equipped for Efficiency

The mobile units will be equipped with internet-enabled laptops, biometric devices, webcams, and facilities for Aadhaar authentication. After the registration process, a PDF of the documents will be sent via SMS to the registered mobile number. This service is entirely optional; seniors can still choose to register at the office using the traditional method.

Aadhaar Mandatory for Slot Booking

During the slot booking process, citizens will need to upload a photo of their Aadhaar card to verify their age. The entire procedure is designed to be secure, transparent, and digital. Currently, this service is available at ten registration offices in Patna and Hajipur, with plans for statewide expansion soon.

Introduction of Paperless Registration

The department has also initiated paperless registration. The e-registration software will prepare documents, automatically calculate fees, and provide e-challans, e-stamps, and Aadhaar-based e-signatures. Additionally, buyers will receive complete property information before registration. If further details are needed, the local or revenue officer will provide information within ten days. The department has also implemented GIS technology for site inspections.

Public Reactions to the Initiative

Residents have expressed their appreciation for the government's initiative aimed at aiding senior citizens. Sarvanandan Kumar from Sheikhpura praised the program, calling it a blessing for the elderly, as it alleviates the physical strain of traveling and waiting in lines. Shivkumar Singh from Ganja Chak Mohmaddpur village noted that the new system would significantly ease travel difficulties for seniors, positively impacting their health.

Raatib Kumar from Patepur Panchayat described the initiative as historic, emphasizing the relief it brings from long waits and office visits. Asharfi Singh from Hajipur commended the government for enhancing convenience at registration offices, while Sajjan Kumar from Patna highlighted the financial savings and reduced hassle for seniors.
