Bihar Government Introduces Home Registration Facility for Seniors
New Registration Initiative for Elderly in Bihar
On Tuesday, Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced a new initiative aimed at providing registration services for land or flats directly at the homes of senior citizens aged 80 and above. This service will be facilitated through a mobile registration unit operated by the Department of Prohibition, Excise, and Registration, allowing applicants to submit their requests online within a specified timeframe. The new system is set to commence on April 1, 2026.
The Chief Minister shared on the social media platform 'X' that many elderly individuals often face significant challenges when dealing with land or flat registration processes. To alleviate these difficulties and prevent unnecessary hassles, this decision has been made. He noted that prospective buyers frequently lack access to updated information regarding the land in question. Therefore, arrangements are being made to provide both buyers and sellers with the latest status of the land prior to registration.
Enhanced Information Access for Buyers
Under this initiative, the registration department will obtain updated land status information from the local office upon request from applicants, ensuring that buyers receive accurate and reliable details about the land. The Chief Minister emphasized that following the formation of a new government on November 20, 2025, the 'Saat Nischay-3' programs will be implemented, aimed at positioning Bihar among the most developed states in the country.
The seventh commitment under 'Saat Nischay-3' is 'Sabka Samman - Jeevan Aasan' (Ease of Living), which primarily focuses on reducing the challenges faced by citizens in their daily lives, thereby simplifying their existence. Significant decisions are being made continuously in this direction.
He expressed confidence that this initiative would be extremely beneficial for senior citizens aged 80 and above. Additionally, the provision of updated land information will benefit all citizens. The Chief Minister also invited individuals wishing to provide specific suggestions regarding this initiative to submit their valuable feedback through designated channels by January 19, 2026.
