Bihar Doctor Arrested in BPSC Teacher Recruitment Exam Paper Leak Case

Patna, July 28: The Bihar Economic Offences Unit (EOU) has apprehended a doctor in connection with the ongoing investigation into the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-3) paper leak scandal.

As per the EOU's announcement on Tuesday, Dr. Manish Kumar was taken into custody on Monday following the collection of substantial evidence related to the case filed at the Economic Offences Police Station in Patna.

Authorities claim that Dr. Kumar had connections with the paper leak syndicate led by Sanjeev Mukhiya and was allegedly part of a conspiracy to distribute the examination questions to candidates prior to the test.

It is reported that he transported 30 students to Hazaribag, Jharkhand, in a reserved vehicle for the purpose of preparing the leaked question paper ahead of the examination.

This case is registered under Economic Offences Police Station Case No. 06/2024, which was filed on March 16, 2024.

The investigation is being carried out in accordance with relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Information Technology Act of 2000, and the Bihar Conduct of Examination Act of 1981.

Dr. Manish Kumar completed his MBBS degree from Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) in Patna in 2021.

He previously worked as a government doctor in Kaimur district before resigning to pursue postgraduate studies.

At the time of his arrest, he was reportedly preparing for the postgraduate medical entrance examination.

To date, the EOU has arrested a total of 296 individuals in connection with the TRE-3 paper leak investigation.

The Economic Offences Unit has emphasized its commitment to combating examination paper leak syndicates and individuals profiting from such illicit activities.

Officials have indicated that the investigation is still active, with the involvement of other suspects being scrutinized based on the evidence gathered.

The EOU has stated that further legal measures will be pursued against anyone found to be part of the alleged conspiracy.
