Central Minister Addresses Speculations on Nitish Kumar's Resignation

On Wednesday, Central Minister Giriraj Singh dismissed rumors suggesting that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar might resign to file his nomination for the Rajya Sabha. Singh remarked that such jokes are common during Holi, affirming, "Nitish Kumar is our Chief Minister." Meanwhile, a meeting is underway at the Chief Minister's residence involving Kumar, Sanjay Jha, the national executive president of the Janata Dal (United), and state minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary.


JD(U) Leaders Discuss Political Strategies

In the midst of these developments, JD(U) MLC Sanjay Gandhi stated that whether Nitish Kumar chooses to enter the Rajya Sabha is entirely his decision. He emphasized that the Chief Minister will determine his own path regarding this matter. The meeting was convened to strengthen the party's organization in light of upcoming elections. Regarding Kumar's son, Nishant Kumar, Gandhi mentioned that the party desires his active involvement in politics, asserting that Nitish Kumar possesses all the necessary qualifications for any position.

Party members are advocating for Nishant Kumar to take a more active role in politics, highlighting that Nitish Kumar is well-qualified for any position. Senior leader and Bihar minister Vijay Chaudhary also arrived at Sanjay Jha's residence in Patna, where discussions were ongoing between Kumar, Jha, and Chaudhary.


Upcoming Rajya Sabha Elections Announced

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that voting for the upcoming biennial Rajya Sabha elections will take place on March 16, with counting set to begin at 5 PM on the same day and concluding by March 20. These elections will cover 37 seats across ten states, including Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Telangana, with the current terms expiring in April 2026.
