In a bizarre incident in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, a bride from Bihar orchestrated a shocking escape after marrying a local man. The bride, who had accepted money for the marriage, revealed her true intentions just two days after the wedding night. When the groom discovered her secret, she locked him in a room and attempted to flee. Using a saree as a rope, she jumped from the balcony but suffered severe injuries, resulting in broken legs. This led to her arrest by the police, where she disclosed details about her accomplices involved in a fraudulent marriage scheme targeting unsuspecting individuals.

Details of the Fraud

The incident took place in the Banad police jurisdiction, where a young man named Bharat filed a complaint regarding the fraudulent marriage. He accused the 23-year-old bride, Suman, along with five others, of serious wrongdoing.

Bharat explained that he had been struggling to find a bride when a family acquaintance, Nandkishore Soni, assured him of a good match. On June 27, he was introduced to Suman, who was brought along with another girl named Ruby Pandey by two associates of Soni. After expressing interest in Suman, Bharat was informed that the marriage would cost him three lakh rupees due to associated expenses.

The Cost of the Marriage

Bharat recounted that he paid 1.7 lakh rupees in cash and transferred an additional 1.3 lakh rupees online. The wedding was conducted at an Arya Samaj temple, but just two days later, he learned that Suman was not who she claimed to be. During a confrontation, Suman locked him in a room and attempted her escape, resulting in her injuries. Bharat raised an alarm, prompting his family to intervene and capture her while her accomplices fled.

Unraveling the Deception

Suman is currently hospitalized in critical condition, yet her cunning nature persists. After being admitted, she repeatedly changed her father's name, raising suspicions. Investigations revealed that she was already married prior to this incident. The documents she provided during the marriage ceremony falsely stated her as unmarried, leading to the exposure of this fraudulent gang. Suman Pandey hails from Aurangabad, Bihar, while her accomplices include Sandeep Sharma from Kaushambi, UP, and Ravi and Ruby Devi from Rohtas, Bihar. The search for the remaining suspects is ongoing.
