Bhuvneshwar Kumar's Comeback: Kris Srikkanth Applauds Selection for T20 Series
Kris Srikkanth Commends Bhuvneshwar Kumar's Return
Kris Srikkanth, a former opener for India, has expressed his admiration for Bhuvneshwar Kumar's return to the Indian T20 squad after a four-year hiatus. He believes that the conditions in New Zealand are perfect for the seasoned pacer to re-establish himself in the team. Srikkanth emphasized Kumar's skill in swinging the ball in both directions, which can pose challenges for batsmen, and he commended the selectors for granting him another chance to showcase his talent.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar's T20I Recall
After a four-year absence, Kumar has been named in the squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand. The selection committee has also announced the India A squads for the tour of New Zealand.
"This is a brilliant decision as New Zealand offers the ideal environment for him to make a comeback. He can effectively move the ball both ways and take wickets. Thankfully, he is not returning to play in India or other subcontinental conditions. I am pleased that the selectors have finally decided to give Bhuvneshwar another opportunity," Srikkanth remarked on his YouTube channel.
Kumar's Impressive Career Stats
The 36-year-old last played for India in 2022 and has participated in 229 matches across all formats, taking 294 wickets at an impressive average of 29.50, which includes seven five-wicket hauls.
Srikkanth Highlights Young Talent
Srikkanth also praised the inclusion of young players Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav in the squad, emphasizing the significance of providing promising talents with a clear pathway to the senior team and supporting their development at the highest level.
"In addition to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, it's encouraging that India has selected Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav. They should focus on promoting such players rather than opting for lesser-known individuals," he added.
