Commitment to Road Safety in Bhubaneswar

In Bhubaneswar, the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) is actively promoting road safety through its ongoing campaign, 'Zero Accident Day.'

The initiative includes daily counseling sessions and the implementation of a 'Road Safety Pledge' at all depots and terminals, aimed at fostering safe driving habits among staff.

During a recent visit to the Naraj Electric Bus Depot, Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, engaged with CRUT personnel and led them in taking the safety oath.

Padhee emphasized, "Safety starts with each individual. As essential service providers, CRUT staff hold the trust of countless commuters daily.

We must commit to making every journey not only timely but also safe and reliable," she stated.

She further highlighted the 'Come Home Safe' message, underlining the importance of safeguarding both passengers and the welfare of transport employees and their families.

"Let’s build trust among commuters through dependable and responsible service," she added.

The 'Zero Accident Day' initiative is designed to minimize road accidents, enhance driving discipline, and encourage accountability, aligning with CRUT's mission to deliver safe and inclusive public transport.

Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 100 electric buses for CRUT during his visit to the state.

These new buses will expand the 'Ama Bus' services, which currently operate on 11 routes in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Puri, by adding 8 additional routes.

The newly opened Naraj Depot, constructed with advanced green technology, will act as the operational center for these electric buses.
