On Wednesday, a motorcycle rally was held in Bhopal under the leadership of retired Major General Shyam Srivastava, representing the Uniformed Social Welfare Foundation. This event aimed to express solidarity with the family of Twisha Sharma, who is a victim in a suspected dowry death case, and to advocate for justice. Major General Srivastava emphasized that the rally's purpose was to raise awareness about the case and support those facing injustice. He stated, “The reason for our rally is clear. We are all aware of the recent incident involving Twisha Sharma. Additionally, individuals aged 17 to 36 serve in the army, and upon their return, they encounter numerous challenges. Our organization, the Uniformed Social Welfare Foundation, addresses their grievances. This rally is organized to show solidarity and support for victims, highlighting our commitment to fighting against any form of injustice.
Legal Proceedings and Family Concerns
Discussing various allegations related to the case, the retired Major General mentioned that the court would hear the matter and deliver a verdict. Since the beginning of the Twisha Sharma case, there have been calls for a second post-mortem due to several discrepancies in the initial report. The court is expected to rule on the allegations presented. Twisha's family was present with us yesterday, but they are not here today due to the ongoing hearings. If they have time, they may join us later. Notably, Twisha's brother, Harshit Sharma, who is a Major in the Indian Army, raised concerns about the police's response and alleged interference in the case during a media briefing on Tuesday. Harshit stated, “We are not here to discuss the court's decision but to question the process. We made the first call to the police; they did not reach out to us. They claimed they were in a hurry to save Twisha, but the video evidence shows Giribala Singh moving calmly up and down the stairs as if she had all the time in the world.”
