Chennai. The bond between husband and wife is traditionally viewed as sacred in Indian culture. However, when distrust creeps into their relationship, it often leads to family breakdown. In some cases, conflicts escalate to such an extent that life feels unbearable. A recent case in Chennai exemplifies this situation. At her husband's insistence, the wife accompanied him on a trip. They booked a room in a lodge, where a bizarre incident occurred, prompting police involvement.

According to reports, a 28-year-old IT professional locked her husband in a room at their home in Vanagaram, Chennai, and alerted the police. She filed a complaint stating that her husband had threatened to upload her nude photographs, which he had secretly taken, on social media. The couple had married in 2023, but shortly after, the husband began to physically abuse her while under the influence of alcohol. This led the woman to return to her parental home in Bengaluru in July 2024.

The Lodge Incident and Subsequent Threats

Later, upon learning that his wife was planning to file for divorce, the husband sought forgiveness and requested to meet her. Two months ago, he traveled to Bengaluru, apologized, and promised not to drink again. He then took her on a motorcycle trip to Kunnur, where they stayed at a lodge. During this stay, he secretly took inappropriate photos of her.

Violence Followed by Intimidation

Upon returning home, the husband resumed his abusive behavior. When the woman threatened to report him to the police, he retaliated by threatening to share her photos online and send them to her family and friends. In a display of quick thinking, the woman managed to confine him to a room and contacted the police control room. Officers from the Vanagaram police station arrived promptly and took the husband into custody. An investigation into the matter has been initiated.
