KSCA Files Petition in High Court

In the wake of the tragic stampede that occurred outside Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has approached the High Court seeking to annul the FIRs filed against its officials. Secretary Raghuram Bhat, Treasurer E.S. Jairam, and A. Shankar have submitted a writ petition requesting the cancellation of these charges. The bench led by Justice Krishna Kumar has scheduled a hearing for this afternoon.

Court Requests Detailed Report from State Authorities

The High Court has taken the initiative to request a comprehensive report from the state government regarding the incident. The court is seeking information on the causes of the stampede, the safety measures in place, and the actions that have been taken thus far. A detailed report is expected to be submitted by the state government by June 10.

RCB Offers Financial Support to Victims' Families

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has announced a financial aid of Rs 10 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives in the incident. Additionally, RCB has established a fund named 'RCB Cares' to assist injured fans. In an official statement, RCB expressed its sorrow over the tragic event, stating, "The unfortunate incident that occurred in Bengaluru has deeply affected the RCB family. As a gesture of respect and solidarity, we are providing financial support to the families of the deceased."

Emotional Response from Deputy Chief Minister

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar expressed his sorrow during a media briefing on Thursday, visibly moved by the tragedy that resulted in 11 fatalities and 33 injuries. He remarked, "This should not have happened; we did not anticipate such a large crowd. The stadium's capacity was 35,000, yet over 300,000 people were present. We apologize for this incident."
