Bengaluru Set to Host Record-Breaking 18th Edition of TCS W10K
Record Participation in Bengaluru's TCS W10K
The 18th edition of the TCS W10K is scheduled to commence from the Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw Parade Ground, with an impressive turnout of over 36,000 runners expected in the Garden City this Sunday.
Dignitaries Discuss Race Management
A meet-and-greet session at the Media Centre brought together various dignitaries who shared insights on their roles in ensuring the race's smooth execution. They emphasized the support systems established for runners during both the pre- and post-race periods. The event will receive backing from the Indian Army, along with the Karnataka and Kerala Sub Area.
Optimized Race Course and Conditions
Hugh Jones provided an overview of the race-day conditions, stating, "Weather will play a role in the leading times, but the course is well-prepared. A significant enhancement is the return to the complete stretch around Ulsoor Lake, eliminating last year's U-turns. This adjustment allows runners to maintain their rhythm and flow, positively impacting their performance. The route is more fluid and scenic this year, promising an improved experience for all participants."
Robust Medical Preparedness
Dr. Vivek Jawali, Chairman of Cardiac Sciences at Fortis Hospitals Bengaluru and Medical Director for TCS W10K 2026, stated, "Given the record number of participants, we have bolstered our medical readiness. A 30-bed medical facility with ICU capabilities will be established at the venue, complemented by multiple medical stations along the route, ambulances, and medics on bikes equipped with defibrillators. A dedicated command center will ensure rapid response. With over 250 medical personnel on standby and all Fortis hospitals prepared, our priority is to guarantee a safe race day for every participant."
Commitment to Sustainability
Dr. Uma Shankar, a Consultant on Sustainability and Public Health Specialist, remarked, "We have implemented a zero-waste-to-landfill model, ensuring waste is segregated at the source and disposed of responsibly. We have significantly reduced single-use plastics and initiated programs like collecting unused water for tree planting, which has become a global benchmark. For Procam, sustainability is a core practice, not just a checkbox."
Bengaluru's Running Revolution
Vivek Singh, Joint Managing Director of Procam International, highlighted the event's broader significance, stating, "This running revolution is a source of pride for Bengaluru and the entire nation. It has fostered a culture of health, fitness, and charity among citizens. Bengaluru is now recognized as the running capital of India, thanks to the collective efforts of numerous stakeholders. We eagerly anticipate race day."
Growing Appeal of the Race
The TCS W10K continues to attract a diverse range of participants, showcasing its increasing popularity among both elite and amateur runners. This year's event features a wide array of participants across various segments.
