In Bengaluru, three individuals have been taken into custody for allegedly attacking a 26-year-old migrant worker from Bihar due to his saffron-colored towel, as reported on Tuesday.

The victim's coworker was also reportedly assaulted during the incident.

Details of the Arrest

The accused, identified as M Tabrez (30), W Imran Khan (35), and A Azeej Khan (47), have been placed in judicial custody for 15 days, according to Bengaluru West Deputy Commissioner of Police S Girish.

This incident occurred on Sunday night at a transport agency located near the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus stand in the Kalasipalya area.

The victim, named Slindher Kumar, was employed at the agency as a cargo handler.

Incident Details

The first information report, lodged by the agency manager Harikrishna, states that the three men arrived at the agency around 9:30 PM and confronted Kumar while he was performing his duties.

They allegedly insisted that he take off his saffron towel and questioned his choice of attire.

Following this, they reportedly verbally abused and physically assaulted him.

When Harikrishna attempted to step in, he was also attacked, resulting in his shirt being torn during the altercation.

Legal Action

The Kalasipalya police have initiated a case against the accused under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which include charges related to causing bodily harm, intentional provocation of a breach of peace, and actions aimed at hurting religious sentiments.
