Bengaluru Police Arrest Bike Taxi Driver for Sexual Harassment

Bengaluru, March 31: Authorities in Bengaluru have taken a bike taxi driver into custody following allegations of inappropriate behavior towards a 25-year-old female passenger. This incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Indiranagar police station, as reported by officials on Tuesday.
The suspect, identified as Mohammad Khizar, was accused by the victim after she booked a ride from BTM Layout to Indiranagar. She claimed that he repeatedly touched her inappropriately during the trip.
The victim confronted Khizar about his actions, but he persisted with his misconduct throughout the journey.
After the ride, she reported the incident to the Indiranagar police, who acted promptly to apprehend the driver. Investigations are currently underway to determine if he has been involved in similar incidents.
A case has been filed against him under Section 75 (sexual harassment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
This incident has sparked serious concerns regarding the safety of women, particularly those utilizing bike taxi services in Bengaluru at all hours.
In a related case, a Rapido auto-rickshaw driver was charged on September 16, 2025, for allegedly molesting a female passenger during her ride in Bengaluru. The woman had booked the auto via an app from Kumaraswamy Layout to her residence.
Additionally, on November 8, 2025, a bike taxi rider was arrested for allegedly molesting a woman during her ride. The victim had recorded the incident on her mobile phone and shared the video on social media before filing a police report. In her Instagram post, she described how the driver attempted to grab her legs while driving, stating it happened so quickly that she couldn't react in time.
