On Friday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) convened its 95th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at its headquarters in Mumbai. The gathering saw significant decisions made regarding the governance and advancement of cricket in India. Notable attendees included BCCI president Mithun Manhas, vice-president Rajeev Shukla, board secretary Devajit Saikia, former president Sourav Ganguly, along with Saurabh Tiwari and Abhishek Dalmiya.

Key Appointments and Financial Resolutions

During the AGM, Arun Singh Dhumal and M Khairul Jamal Majumdar were elected to join the Governing Council of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Additionally, the General Body ratified the audited financial statements for the fiscal year 2025-26 and sanctioned the budget for FY 2026-27. Auditors for the upcoming financial year were also appointed.

Plans for IPL and Centenary Celebrations

The meeting also laid out plans for a grand celebration of the IPL's 20th edition in 2027. Furthermore, the BCCI has begun preparations for its centenary celebrations in 2028, which will span a year starting in December 2027, commemorating a century of BCCI and Indian cricket's legacy.

Administrative Enhancements and Welfare Initiatives

The General Body unanimously endorsed an improved payment structure for umpires and match referees, along with a reclassification of their grades. A new Internal Committee was established under the BCCI's Prevention of Sexual Harassment Policy. Updates to the BCCI Age Verification Policy were also approved. Discussions were held with State Units regarding support for differently-abled cricketers, focusing on enhancing facilities and resources to aid their development in the sport.
