BCCI to Enforce Strict Guidelines for IPL Franchises Amid Security Breaches

BCCI's Advisory on IPL Security Protocols

On Thursday, Devajit Saikia, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), announced that the board will be issuing a stringent advisory to all franchises participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL). This decision comes after the board identified numerous "anomalies and irregularities" involving players, team officials, and unauthorized individuals during the tournament.

Saikia pointed out that the BCCI has observed several violations of established anti-corruption and security measures. These include unauthorized individuals accompanying team members, gaining access to team hotels, and entering the rooms of players or officials. He also raised concerns regarding franchise owners and officials interacting with players in restricted areas, which is against IPL regulations.

BCCI's Serious Stance on Violations

Saikia emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating that the BCCI and the IPL governing body will issue a formal advisory to ensure adherence to tournament protocols. He warned that any future infractions would lead to "very stringent action" from the board. "We have noticed various anomalies in the conduct of certain franchises and players. Therefore, the BCCI and IPL are preparing an advisory that will be released this evening. We have seen unauthorized individuals moving with team members and entering hotels and players' rooms, which violates our anti-corruption protocols. Additionally, some team owners and officials have been seen mingling with players in restricted areas. We take this matter very seriously and will enforce strict compliance. Any future violations will result in severe consequences," Saikia informed reporters.

Recent Violations in the IPL

In recent incidents, Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Riyan Parag was penalized for smoking an e-cigarette in the dressing room during a match against the Punjab Kings (PBKS). He was fined 25% of his match fee and received a demerit point for vaping inside the dressing room. Additionally, RR manager Ravinder Singh Bhinder was fined Rs 1 lakh for using a mobile phone near the dugout during a match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Barsapara Cricket Stadium on April 10.
