Bangladeshi National Sentenced for Fraudulent Passport Use in Uttar Pradesh

Court Sentences Bangladeshi Citizen for Passport Fraud

On Tuesday, a police official reported that a court in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, has sentenced a Bangladeshi national to three years in prison for traveling on a counterfeit Indian passport and illegally registering land. Special Judge Ramkripal found Abdul Amin guilty on Monday and imposed a fine of ₹10,000, as stated by Superintendent of Police Omveer Singh.


According to prosecution sources, a case was registered against Amin on March 14, 2023, at the Kotwal police station in Ballia, following a written complaint by Inspector Bharat Bhushan Tiwari from the ATS Varanasi unit. The case was filed under various sections of the IPC and the Foreigners Act.


Amin allegedly obtained Indian documents illegally with the help of certain individuals in Ballia and used them to register land unlawfully in the Purushottampur area of Pandua, Hooghly district, West Bengal. He also fraudulently acquired a passport and made two trips each to Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Following the investigation, police filed a charge sheet against Amin in court.
