Bangladesh Spinner Aliss Al Islam Faces Bowling Action Scrutiny

Bangladesh spinner Aliss Al Islam has been reported for a suspected illegal bowling action following his ODI debut against Afghanistan. The 29-year-old will undergo an independent assessment as per ICC regulations. This marks another instance of scrutiny for Aliss, who has faced similar concerns in the past. Bangladesh's performance in the tri-series has been disappointing, losing both matches against Zimbabwe and Afghanistan. The upcoming assessment will determine his eligibility to continue playing in international matches. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

Concerns Over Bowling Action

Aliss Al Islam, an off-spinner from Bangladesh, has been flagged for a potential illegal bowling action after his ODI tri-series match against Afghanistan on October 21 in Sharjah. In his ODI debut, Aliss allowed 47 runs over 8.3 overs. Earlier this month, he also made his T20I debut during the Asian Games against Sri Lanka, as reported by the ICC.

ICC's Response and Future Assessment

Following the match, officials expressed concerns regarding the legality of Aliss's bowling technique. He is set to undergo an independent evaluation at an ICC-accredited facility, adhering to the ICC's regulations on illegal bowling actions. Bangladesh has struggled in the tri-series, losing both matches against Zimbabwe and Afghanistan, with the latter team advancing to the final on October 23.

Bowlers are allowed a maximum elbow extension of 15 degrees during delivery. Aliss can continue participating in international matches until the assessment results are available. This isn't the first instance of Aliss being reported; he faced scrutiny in 2019 after achieving a hat-trick on his T20 debut in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). He successfully passed a domestic assessment by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) later that year. Aliss was reported again during the previous BPL season but cleared another test conducted by the BCB.
