Bangladesh Raises Security Concerns with India Over Diplomatic Missions
Bangladesh's Diplomatic Security Issues
Dhaka: On Tuesday, Bangladesh's Foreign Ministry called in Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma due to rising concerns regarding the safety of Bangladeshi diplomatic missions in India.
Asad Alam Siam, the Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh, met with Verma, who was accompanied by the Deputy High Commissioner, as reported by the Dhaka Tribune.
Sources from the Foreign Ministry indicated that the meeting was prompted by the deteriorating security situation affecting Bangladeshi missions across India. Verma was urged to enhance security measures at these diplomatic locations.
This incident marks the second occasion within ten days that Verma has been summoned to the Foreign Ministry. Throughout the interim government's term, he has been called in at least six times regarding various issues.
Prior to this meeting, Verma was summoned on December 14.
Following that meeting, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted India's cooperation in preventing the escape of attackers who assaulted Inquilab Moncho convener Sharif Osman Hadi into India.
Bangladesh has requested that if the suspects enter Indian territory, they should be promptly apprehended and extradited back to Bangladesh.
