However, the tournament will proceed without spectators due to the ongoing crisis in West Asia, with matches limited to Lahore and Karachi. The BCB emphasizes its commitment to player safety throughout the tournament.

BCB Approves Player Participation

On Monday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced that it has authorized its players to take part in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026, which is scheduled to commence on March 26 and conclude with the final on May 3.

Security Clearance from Government

The BCB stated that it has been in constant communication with the Ministry of Youth & Sports and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the safety of Bangladeshi cricketers in the PSL T20 tournament. After thorough discussions, it was confirmed that there are no significant security threats for the players representing various franchises. This assurance was based on information provided by the Bangladesh Mission in Islamabad.

With these security guarantees, the players have proceeded to Pakistan for the tournament.

Focus on Player Safety

The BCB emphasized that the safety and well-being of its players is its top priority and will maintain close communication with all relevant parties.

Changes to the Tournament Format

Due to the ongoing crisis in West Asia, PSL 2026 will take place without any spectators. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi mentioned that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged the public to limit their movements due to the fuel crisis. Consequently, the tournament has been scaled down from six venues to just two, with all matches now set to occur in Lahore and Karachi. Additionally, the opening ceremony in Lahore has been canceled.
