New Restrictions on School Access

In Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh, a ban has been imposed on the entry of unauthorized individuals, including YouTubers and those associated with social media channels, into government and aided primary schools. This announcement was made by officials on Sunday.

The District Basic Education Officer (BSA), Manish Singh, stated that the order was issued on Friday. The primary aim of this restriction is to ensure that the educational process remains uninterrupted and to uphold the dignity of the teaching profession. Singh emphasized, “No external person, YouTuber, or individual linked to social media will be allowed to enter the school premises or engage in photography or videography without my permission or that of the competent authority.”

He also mentioned that similar directives have been issued in several other districts. This decision follows an incident in the Ballia area where a social media channel allegedly shared a video showing a teacher arriving late at school.

Singh pointed out that the activities of such YouTubers and social media users are negatively impacting the image of journalists. He clarified that authorized media representatives can visit schools only after contacting him or the relevant block education officer.
