Trophy Unveiling Ceremony

On Saturday, the Bajaj Pune Grand Tour (BPGT) 2026 trophy was revealed during a prestigious event in Jaipur. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari and Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi, who is overseeing the road race.


Dignitaries in Attendance

The event saw the participation of several notable figures, including Madan Rathore, a Member of Parliament from Rajasthan; Niraj K. Pawan, the Sports Secretary of Rajasthan; Onkar Singh, Chairman of the Cycling Federation of India; and Sarika Choudhary, Chairperson of the Selection Committee for the Rajasthan Cycling Association.


Overview of the Pune Grand Tour

The Bajaj Pune Grand Tour 2026, organized by the Pune District Administration under Jitendra Dudi's leadership and with the support of the Maharashtra Government, is set to be India's premier international cycling event. This inaugural UCI 2.2 classified road race will attract elite cyclists from around the world, showcasing Pune's vibrant culture and challenging routes. The trophy, crafted by the renowned Tambat Aali community of Pune, symbolizes eight heritage forts and the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, generating enthusiasm among cycling fans and the local populace.


Advancing Cycling in India

Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari remarked on the significance of the Pune Grand Tour, stating, "It's encouraging to see India embracing new sports and demonstrating its capability to host major sporting events. The Pune Grand Tour 2026 marks a significant milestone as India's first UCI classified race, enhancing the profile of professional cycling in the country."


Jitendra Dudi, the Pune District Collector and Race In-Charge, emphasized the extensive planning that has gone into the event over the past six months. He expressed aspirations for India to host a UCI Pro Race, akin to the Tour de France, highlighting the ambition to elevate the country's standing in international cycling.
