Badruddin Ajmal Declares Assets Worth Over Rs 169 Crore Ahead of Assembly Elections

Badruddin Ajmal's Wealth Declaration


Guwahati, Mar 24: Badruddin Ajmal, the leader of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), has reported total assets exceeding Rs 169 crore in his election affidavit for the Binnakandi Assembly seat. His liabilities are noted to be over Rs 4.45 crore.


The affidavit, submitted alongside his nomination, reveals that Ajmal's movable assets are valued at approximately Rs 52.43 crore, while his immovable assets are around Rs 149.12 crore.


Ajmal's wife, Rizwaana Badruddin Ajmal, has declared movable assets worth about Rs 31.08 lakh and immovable assets totaling around Rs 6.82 lakh.


The affidavit also indicates that Ajmal's liabilities, primarily consisting of loans from financial institutions, amount to Rs 4.45 crore.


In terms of income, Ajmal reported earnings of roughly Rs 3.21 crore for the financial year 2024-25, while his spouse declared an income of Rs 49,950 for the same period.


Over the past decade, Ajmal has seen a significant increase in his declared wealth. A comparison with previous affidavits shows a consistent rise in his net worth over the last ten years.


During the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Ajmal had assets estimated between Rs 44-50 crore. By the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, his total assets had surged to approximately Rs 78-90 crore, indicating nearly a doubling in five years.


This growth is primarily attributed to an increase in immovable assets, which now total around Rs 149 crore, alongside movable assets exceeding Rs 52 crore.


Ajmal's investments encompass real estate, business interests, shares, and various financial instruments, as detailed in the annexures of his affidavit.


The AIUDF leader has outlined a diverse range of investments, including bank deposits, shares, bonds, and stakes in multiple business ventures.


His affidavit lists properties located in Hojai, Guwahati, and parts of Karnataka, showcasing a varied real estate portfolio.


On the legal side, the affidavit mentions one pending criminal case against Ajmal concerning alleged objectionable remarks, which is currently under investigation.


Additionally, the affidavit states that Ajmal's highest educational qualification is matriculation from Darul Uloom Deoband.
