Significant Achievements of Ayushman Bharat

On Friday, Prataprao Jadhav, the Union Minister of State for Health, announced that the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) has facilitated cashless treatment exceeding ₹1.91 lakh crore for patients through a network of over 37,000 listed hospitals across the nation. He emphasized that this milestone reflects the government's dedication to the initiative.


While addressing a two-day brainstorming session organized by the National Health Authority (NHA), Jadhav highlighted that the scheme was conceived with the spirit of Antyodaya. Its primary goal is to ensure that high-quality healthcare services reach the most marginalized individuals in society, enabling even the poorest to access better medical treatment.


Reflecting on the successes of the past seven years, the minister noted that Ayushman Bharat has evolved into the world's largest health insurance program. He stressed that millions have benefited from treatment without any cash payments, marking a significant transformation in the country's healthcare system.


Discussing advancements in digital health services, Jadhav mentioned that the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) has laid a robust foundation for future healthcare systems. To date, over 940 million Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) numbers have been created, with approximately 1 billion digital health records linked to these accounts.
