Police Action in Ayodhya Donation Case

In Ayodhya, police conducted coordinated raids on Sunday at the homes of eight individuals implicated in the alleged embezzlement of donations intended for the Ram Temple. Sources from the police indicated that these operations were executed with the assistance of local magistrates.

The raids were initiated just two days after a court in Ayodhya placed all eight suspects in judicial custody until June 29. Authorities plan to request their custodial remand during their next court appearance on Monday.

The individuals arrested include Avinash Shukla, Anukalp Mishra, Lav Kush Mishra, Manish Kumar Yadav, Karunesh Pandey, Ram Shankar Mishra, Subhash Srivastava, and Ramashankar alias Tinnu Yadav, all of whom were involved in managing the cash and valuables received as donations for the temple.

As per the prosecution, investigators have recovered approximately Rs 79.85 lakh so far. The case has been filed under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita concerning theft by a servant, criminal breach of trust, receiving stolen property, and criminal conspiracy, along with provisions from the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The FIR was lodged following a preliminary report from a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) established by the Uttar Pradesh government in response to allegations of fund misappropriation that emerged earlier this month.
