Atiqa Mir Achieves Historic Ranking

Atiqa Mir, an 11-year-old racing talent from India, has made headlines by becoming the highest-ranked female in the latest FIA International Kart Ranking (IKR) for her category. She currently holds the seventh position overall in the International OK-NJ class (ages 12-14), making her the top female racer according to the rankings established by the FIA, the governing body of motorsport. The rankings are topped by Zoltan Coigny from Switzerland.

A Trailblazer in Indian Motorsport

Recognized as the first Indian supported by the Formula 1 Academy, Atiqa was promoted from the mini class (ages 8-12) to the Junior category (ages 12-14) at the beginning of 2026 due to her exceptional skills. She demonstrated her talent by securing a historic podium finish in the opening round of the Champions of the Future Academy (COTFA) series held in Valencia last month.

Proud Father and Future Aspirations

Asif Mir, Atiqa's father and India's inaugural national karting champion, expressed his pride in her swift ascent in motorsport while emphasizing her ultimate ambition of competing in Formula 1, a feat no female has achieved since 1992. "Atiqa has reached a significant milestone through her dedication and the support she has received. This is a proud moment for India. She must continue to work hard and evolve, as stagnation is not an option in racing," Asif stated.

Recent Achievements and Upcoming Competitions

In the previous month, Atiqa concluded her participation in the WSK Super Master Series with an impressive eighth-place finish among 53 competitors in the final round at Franciacorta. After a brief two-week break, she is set to resume testing in Lonato this weekend, gearing up for the WSK Euro Round 2 at the same venue next week.
