Assistant Engineer Arrested for Bribery in Panchayat Committee

Bribery Case Unfolds


The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has taken significant action by apprehending an Assistant Engineer (AEN) from the Panchayat Committee while he was accepting a bribe of ₹15,000. The accused was soliciting money in exchange for approving bills.


Bribe Demanded for Bill Approval

According to reports, a complainant informed the ACB that the AEN was demanding a bribe for processing bills. The complaint indicated that the file was not being advanced without the payment.


Successful Trap Operation

Following the complaint, the ACB devised a plan to catch the officer in the act. As per the strategy, the complainant approached the accused, and upon handing over the ₹15,000, the ACB team swiftly intervened and arrested him red-handed.


Search Yields Large Cash Amount

After the arrest, the ACB conducted a search at the officer's residence. During the operation, they discovered ₹5,23,000 in cash. Officials stated that the accused could not provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the seized amount.


Ongoing Interrogation by ACB

ACB officials have confirmed that they are currently interrogating the accused to determine if he has engaged in similar bribery activities in the past. An investigation into his disproportionate assets may also be initiated.

The ACB emphasized its commitment to taking stringent action against individuals soliciting bribes for government work. They have urged the public to report any instances of bribery immediately, enabling decisive measures against such offenders.
