Assam's Chief Minister Addresses Illegal Immigration

Guwahati, July 30 - The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced on Thursday that 18 foreign nationals were prevented from entering India as part of the state's ongoing campaign against illegal immigration. In a post on the social media platform X on Wednesday night, Sarma emphasized that no tolerance would be shown towards immigration that undermines Assam's security and identity. He stated that strict measures have been taken against these 18 infiltrators as part of their continuous efforts.

However, the Chief Minister did not disclose the locations where these individuals were apprehended or their countries of origin. He reiterated that their vigilant monitoring and actions are ongoing around the clock. Assam shares a 267.5-kilometer international border with Bangladesh, encompassing the districts of Sribhoomi, Cachar, Dhubri, and South Salmara-Mankachar.
