Assam Police Seizes Narcotics Worth ₹11.5 Crores, Four Arrested

Major Drug Bust in Assam

The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced that authorities have confiscated narcotics valued at ₹11.5 crores from two districts and apprehended four drug traffickers.


In a post shared on social media platform X on Saturday night, Sarma highlighted the Assam Police's rigorous efforts against drug trafficking through two operations conducted in the Karbi Anglong and Cachar districts.


He detailed that the Karbi Anglong police intercepted a vehicle at the Khatkhati check post, seizing 4.899 kilograms of morphine worth ₹5 crores and arresting one trafficker.


In a separate operation, the district police and Special Task Force (STF) in Cachar confiscated over ₹6 crores worth of 1.2 kilograms of heroin.


The Chief Minister further stated that the Cachar police and STF stopped a vehicle at Sonabari Ghat, seizing 1.239 kilograms of heroin valued at ₹6.5 crores and arresting three individuals.
