Assam Police Interrogates Congress Leader Pawan Khera Over Allegations Against CM Sarma
Police Inquiry at Pawan Khera's Residence
A contingent from the Assam Police visited the residence of Congress leader Pawan Khera in Delhi on Tuesday to question him regarding claims he made about Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his family.
Upon their arrival in the capital, the Assam Police notified their Delhi counterparts, prompting local police to assist with the inquiry.
At the time of the police's visit, Khera was reportedly not at home, leading authorities to conduct a search of the premises, as stated by Assam Police Assistant Commissioner Debojit Nath.
In response to the situation, Sarma accused Khera of having fled to Hyderabad, which is governed by the Congress party.
Earlier, Khera alleged that he possessed documents indicating that Sarma's wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, holds passports from the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Antigua and Barbuda. Both Sarma and his wife have denied these claims, asserting they are based on misinformation.
On the previous day, Sarma alleged that the documents referenced by the Congress party were provided by a Pakistani social media group. He mentioned that his wife had filed a first information report against Khera and others involved.
Sarma further claimed that the Congress party had utilized information from a supposedly lost passport that had been shared within the group, alleging it had been altered digitally.
The BJP leader also noted that establishing a company can be done for as little as $199, suggesting that following his press conference, another company was created in Riniki's name.
