Tamulpur, July 3: On Friday, the Assam government conducted a review of development initiatives across various departments in Tamulpur district. BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary and Cabinet Minister Biswajit Daimary announced that new projects and infrastructure developments are set to commence following the state's final budget presentation on July 10.
During the review meeting at the District Commissioner's office, Daimary explained, “Due to the elections and the interim budget prior to government formation, we have been unable to secure funding. However, funds will be allocated after the final budget is presented on July 10, allowing us to initiate new projects.”
The minister also highlighted that the BTC has implemented stricter regulations regarding the execution of construction contracts.
"As mentioned by the BTC Chief, the council has enforced strict measures concerning construction contracts that do not involve tenders," he noted.
Infrastructure, especially road connectivity, was a key topic during the discussions.
Daimary stated that repair work on essential roads in the area would commence soon, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma having already dispatched officials to evaluate the condition of critical routes.
"Road repair efforts will start shortly. The Chief Minister has assigned officials to inspect the UT Road, and urgent repairs will be undertaken. Additionally, immediate actions will be taken for the Rangia-Darranga road," he mentioned.
In a statement to the media, Mohilary indicated that contractors with outstanding projects would be given new assignments, and development activities across various sectors would kick off once budget allocations are confirmed.
Mohilary also expressed his intention to personally monitor the progress of development works later this year to ensure timely execution.
"I plan to review the remaining work progress around September to October," he stated.
In response to public concerns regarding poor road conditions in several areas, the BTC chief noted that financial approvals are linked to the upcoming budget process.
"The final budget will be presented in July. If there are workers willing to start now and receive payment later, they are welcome to do so," Mohilary commented.
When questioned about the possibility of Tamulpur receiving a special package for road connectivity in the forthcoming budget, he suggested that such proposals are being considered.
"I can oversee the packages for Tamulpur, but only after the July 2026 budget," he added.
This review meeting marks the BTC administration's preparation for a new phase of development spending, focusing on infrastructure, road connectivity, and the completion of outstanding projects in Tamulpur district.
