Introduction to the New Hospital Management System
Guwahati, Jan 3: The Government of Assam has awarded RailTel Corporation of India Limited a significant contract to deploy a state-of-the-art Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) across seven medical colleges under the Medical Education & Research Department.
Project Overview and Objectives
This initiative, valued at Rs 56.71 crore, aims to revolutionize healthcare services by enhancing transparency, efficiency, accountability, and patient satisfaction.
The HMIS is a sophisticated, web-based software solution that offers a comprehensive and improved experience for both hospital staff and patients.
Benefits of the HMIS
The integrated clinical information system will digitize healthcare workflows, facilitating smooth hospital operations and better patient care.
Patients will have easy access to their medical records via mobile devices, promoting quicker and more convenient healthcare services. Meanwhile, doctors will gain immediate access to complete medical histories and clinical support, enabling them to provide precise and timely treatments.
Empowering Hospital Administrators
Hospital administrators will be equipped to make data-driven decisions based on the systematic information generated by the HMIS. The system's multi-hospital capabilities will foster cross-consultation and collaboration among various institutions.

The HMIS will also ensure seamless integration with medical and diagnostic equipment, promoting efficient information flow across departments and labs.
By digitizing healthcare processes, the system aims to deliver faster services to beneficiaries while alleviating administrative burdens on healthcare providers.
The project is set to unfold over seven years, with 78 weeks dedicated to implementation, followed by a six-month stabilization phase after the last hospital's completion.
