Assam Gears Up for Prime Minister Modi's Upcoming Visit

Assam is making extensive preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit on December 20. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has outlined the significance of this visit, which is expected to usher in a new wave of development for the state. Key events include the inauguration of a new airport terminal and the unveiling of a statue of Assam's first chief minister. The Chief Minister has emphasized the need for smooth execution of all planned activities, ensuring a successful visit.
 

Preparations Underway for PM Modi's Visit


Guwahati, Dec 4: On Wednesday, Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma convened a high-level meeting to assess the arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's anticipated two-day visit to the state, scheduled for December 20.


Sarma expressed optimism, stating that the Prime Minister's visit would signal the beginning of a new era of development for Assam.


He shared on social media, "Assam is prepared to welcome Adarniya Shri @narendramodi ji on 20th December, as he will usher in a new wave of progress in the state. I reviewed the preparations for his reception and the key events planned during his stay."


During his visit, Modi is set to inaugurate the new terminal at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport. This terminal, once operational, is expected to accommodate over 13 million passengers annually, alleviating congestion and enhancing Guwahati's status as a vital aviation hub in the region.


Additionally, the Prime Minister will unveil a statue of Assam's inaugural chief minister, Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi, at Borjhar and is slated to address a public gathering in Guwahati.


He will also lay the foundation for a new ammonia-urea complex with an annual capacity of 1.27 million metric tonnes at Namrup and will speak at a public meeting there.


The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of ensuring that both events in Guwahati and Namrup proceed smoothly and successfully, as per an official statement.


Industries and Commerce Minister Bimal Bora, Naharkatia MLA Taranga Gogoi, district commissioners from Kamrup and Dibrugarh, and AVFCL managing director S.P. Mahanta participated in the meeting virtually. Chief Secretary Ravi Kota, DGP Harmeet Singh, and several senior officials were also in attendance.
