On Friday, Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed concerns that the death toll from the floods may rise, as numerous areas remain cut off from communication. He reported that 47 fatalities have been confirmed, with eight individuals still unaccounted for. During a press conference, the Chief Minister noted that the government has been unable to reach several affected regions, particularly in the districts of Charadeiv and Sivasagar, due to connectivity issues, preventing many from reporting their situations. Sarma mentioned that seven individuals are reported missing in Charadeiv and Sivasagar, but many are unable to provide updates.

He added, "We have lost contact with them, so I believe the number of deceased and missing will increase. The figures we have shared today are likely to be understated." Sarma indicated that 77 revenue areas in Assam have been impacted by the floods, with the current death toll at 47 and eight individuals missing. He elaborated that in Charadeiv district, three revenue areas, 152 villages, and 133,159 people have been affected, with ten confirmed deaths and one person still missing. In Sivasagar district, five revenue areas, 333 villages, and a population of 530,000 have been impacted, with 21 deaths and six others unaccounted for.

Chief Minister Sarma confirmed that relief materials have been dispatched to all flood-affected villages in Charadeiv, while officials have been unable to reach nearly 30% of the affected areas in Nazira, Sivasagar, due to thick layers of mud that remain even after the floodwaters recede. He further stated that they have yet to access 20% of the impacted areas in the Sivasagar assembly constituency. The situation remains critical; Cabinet Ministers Bimal Borah and Sushant Borgohain are currently stationed there, and Minister Keshav Mahanta is scheduled to visit this evening. Relief supplies are being sent to Charadeiv and Sivasagar districts. The Chief Minister described witnessing an unprecedented situation, as heavy rainfall has also been reported in Dibrugarh and surrounding areas, causing the Brahmaputra River's water level to rise.
