Guwahati, Sept 21: On Monday, Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma conducted a review of significant projects, including the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Guwahati and a cricket stadium designed to accommodate 2,000 spectators, urging officials to ensure these projects are completed on schedule.

During his visit to AIIMS located in Changsari, Kamrup district, Sarma assessed the medical services, infrastructure, and ongoing initiatives at this leading healthcare facility, as reported by the Chief Minister’s Office.

The Chief Minister engaged with doctors, administrative staff, and healthcare workers to evaluate the institution's operations and the quality of services offered to patients.

In discussions with AIIMS Guwahati's Executive Director Ashok Puranik, Sarma focused on enhancing patient-centered healthcare services, ensuring that visitors receive high-quality treatment along with necessary facilities.

Following this, he inspected the construction site of the cricket stadium in Amingaon to assess the project's advancement, according to the official release.

Sarma evaluated various aspects of the sports facility and the related infrastructure being developed in the vicinity.

This stadium is part of a broader sports infrastructure initiative in Amingaon, which will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including a National Centre of Excellence for badminton and a high-performance swimming center.

According to the Chief Minister's Office, “This integrated sports infrastructure is anticipated to bolster Assam’s sports ecosystem and improve the state's ability to host both national and international sporting events.”

Additionally, Sarma reviewed the site for the proposed Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP) adjacent to the integrated District Commissioner’s Office of Kamrup and the cricket stadium.

He instructed the relevant officials to ensure effective collaboration among all agencies involved in these projects.

The inspection highlighted the state government's commitment to advancing healthcare facilities alongside modern sports and urban infrastructure, aiming to enhance Assam's capacity to deliver quality public services and position itself as a hub for major sporting events.
