BJP's Promising Performance in Assam and West Bengal

On Saturday, Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, expressed strong confidence in the electoral performance of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He asserted that the party has gained significant momentum following the first phase of elections. Sarma claimed that the BJP is on track to achieve substantial victories in both Assam and West Bengal, noting a shift in public sentiment towards the party after the initial voting phase.

During a press conference, Sarma stated, "The first phase of the elections is complete. I can confidently say that the BJP has won 110 seats in this phase alone. This time, we aim to secure 100 seats in Assam and 200 in West Bengal. We will achieve a century in Assam and a double century in West Bengal."

Political Climate Shifts in West Bengal

Sarma further remarked that the political landscape in West Bengal has significantly changed in favor of the BJP after the initial voting. He added, "I can confidently say that if the BJP secures more than 200 seats in West Bengal, it will not be surprising. I have participated in all elections in West Bengal in 2016 and 2019, but this time, the public's attitude towards the BJP is unprecedented."

He noted that voters who were previously uncertain are now openly supporting the party. Sarma mentioned that the atmosphere has transformed following the first phase of voting, with people now fully believing that the BJP will win in West Bengal.

Record Voter Turnout in Recent Elections

Earlier, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar stated that the voter turnout in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu was the highest since independence. Voting concluded at 6 PM, with Kumar acknowledging the impressive turnout, saying, "The highest voter percentage since independence in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu is commendable. The Election Commission salutes every voter in these states."

According to the latest data from the Election Commission, West Bengal recorded a remarkable 91.91% voter turnout in the first phase, significantly higher than the previous year. This high turnout reflects an active electoral process, with voting concluding under strict security measures across all constituencies.
