Arrests Made in Assam

Guwahati, August 1 - The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced that law enforcement has apprehended 14 individuals identified as illegal immigrants, and appropriate actions have been initiated against them. However, he did not provide further details regarding the arrests.


In a post shared on the social media platform X, the Chief Minister stated, “Every day, illegal immigrants attempt to execute their malicious plans in Assam, but we are consistently thwarting their efforts and taking action against them.”


He further added, “The Assam Police have detained these 14 illegal immigrants, and necessary measures have been taken against them. Assam remains fully alert.” Recently, the state government informed the assembly that over the past decade, approximately 2,100 illegal foreigners have been deported, expelled, or sent back from Assam, including 2,023 Bangladeshi nationals.
