Financial Assistance Under Orunodoi Scheme

Guwahati, Mar 8: In a significant move to provide financial support to numerous families, Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared on Sunday that approximately 40 lakh families will receive Rs 9,000 each under the Orunodoi scheme on March 10.

This announcement was made during a live social media session just before the Chief Minister commenced the seventh day of the "Jana Ashirwad Yatra" in Margherita.

During the session, Sarma explained that the financial aid will be distributed through special local meetings organized throughout the state.

“On March 10 at 10:30 am, Rs 9,000 will be given to 40 lakh Orunodoi families. Meetings will be held in panchayats across Assam, including the MSE regions of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao, as well as in the VC-DC areas of the Bodoland Territorial Region and ward areas,” the Chief Minister stated.

Sarma encouraged all eligible families to attend these meetings to receive their financial assistance.

“I urge all beneficiaries to be present at the meetings. Assam has around 40 lakh Orunodoi beneficiary families, and the total disbursement will amount to approximately Rs 3,600 crore,” Sarma highlighted, emphasizing that this initiative represents one of the largest financial assistance programs in the state.

The Chief Minister noted that such initiatives are made possible through the support and encouragement of the people of Assam.

Previously, while announcing the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) disbursement after a cabinet meeting on February 26, Sarma mentioned that this would mark the highest single-day transfer of funds to beneficiaries in Assam's history.

"Meetings will be organized in every panchayat, municipal ward, and autonomous council area to facilitate the distribution. The central event will take place at Jyoti Bishnu Kala Kendra in Khanapara,” Sarma added.
