Assam Chief Minister Allocates District Responsibilities to Cabinet Ministers

In a significant move to enhance local governance, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has assigned district responsibilities to 16 cabinet ministers. This initiative aims to ensure effective implementation of government schemes and foster collaboration with local administrations. Each minister will oversee specific districts, focusing on development and progress. Sarma expressed confidence that this strategy will accelerate the state's growth. Key assignments include Rameshwar Teli for Tinsukia and Jorhat, and Atul Bora for Kamrup Metropolitan and Dhemaji, among others. This restructuring is expected to streamline governance and boost development efforts across Assam.
 

Cabinet Ministers Assigned District Oversight

On Sunday, Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, announced the allocation of district responsibilities to his 16 cabinet colleagues. These ministers are tasked with coordinating with local administrations to oversee and monitor development activities in their respective districts.


As district in-charges, they will ensure the smooth and effective implementation of all government schemes and programs within their jurisdictions.


In a post on social media platform 'X', Sarma expressed his happiness about this initiative, stating, 'I am pleased to announce the assignment of district responsibilities to the ministers of the Assam government. I am confident that all ministers will collaborate with district administrations to accelerate the state's journey towards progress and prosperity.'


Rameshwar Teli has been assigned the districts of Tinsukia and Jorhat, while Atul Bora will oversee Kamrup Metropolitan and Dhemaji. Other assignments include Chiran Boro for Kokrajhar, Baksa, and Chirang; Ajanta Neog for Morigaon and Kamrup; Ashwini Ray for Bongaigaon and Barpeta; Ashok Singhal for Darrang and Dhubri; Bimal Bora for Sivasagar and Charaideo; and Biswajit Daimari for Nalbari and Sonitpur.


Sarma further mentioned that Jayant Mallbarua will handle Tamulpur and Goalpara, while Kaushik Roy will be responsible for Srimanta and Hailakandi. Keshab Mahanta has been assigned the districts of South Salmara-Mankachar and North Lakhimpur, and Krishnendu Paul will oversee Dima Hasao and Cachar. Piyush Hazarika will be in charge of Nagaon, Hojai, Karbi Anglong, and West Karbi Anglong.
