The Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium in Nagoya transformed into a hub for sports enthusiasts on Saturday, marking the official commencement of the 20th Asian Games, which unites athletes from across Asia for a grand celebration.

Japan's Emperor Naruhito officially opened this significant sporting event in Aichi-Nagoya, heralding the start of a two-week gathering of thousands of athletes.

For India, the evening had a unique vibe.

Leading the Indian delegation were two athletes from contrasting sports backgrounds — Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker and kabaddi star Pawan Sehrawat. With the Indian flag held high, they symbolized the hopes and memories of India's remarkable performance at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou.

Bhaker's presence added an Olympic flair, while Sehrawat showcased one of India's most successful traditional sports, bringing with him the experience of winning gold in kabaddi at the previous Asian Games.
